JINYA Ramen Bar debuted its first Northern California location in San Jose’s Westfield Oakridge Center. Created by Japanese restaurateur Tomonori Takahashi, the brand offers its authentic Japanese ramen bowls and shareable tapas for lunch and dinner daily. The new San Jose location boasts a sleek, contemporary design with Japanese-style counter seating, two patio spaces, and a stunning outdoor fireplace.
JINYA’s ramen bowls are made with authentic broths, simmered for 10 hours, and noodles, aged in-house for three days. All ramen broth is prepared with FUJI water—99.9% free of impurities—to preserve every ounce of flavor. Offerings may be customized with an array of toppings; in lieu of meat or fish broths, vegetarian and vegan versions are available.
Menu highlights at the San Jose location include:
- JINYA Tonkotsu Black: JINYA’s signature ramen with pork broth, pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, nori dried seaweed, seasoned egg, garlic chips, garlic oil, fried onion, and spicy sauce, served with thin noodles ($13)
- Cha Cha Cha: the ramen choice for garlic lovers with pork and fish broth, pork chashu, seasoned egg, bean sprouts, chopped onion, green onion, garlic, and chili powder, served with thick noodles ($14)
- Spicy Chicken Ramen: chicken broth, chicken chashu, spinach, spicy bean sprouts, and green onion, served with thick noodles ($12)
- Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen: vegetable broth, tofu, onion, green onion, spinach, crispy onion, garlic chips, garlic oil, chili oil, and sesame seeds, served with thick noodles ($12)
- Brussels Sprouts Tempura: a tapas dish of crispy tempura Brussels sprouts with white truffle oil ($6.85)
In addition to bowl options, JINYA offers a variety of Japanese tapas and salads. The San Jose location offers Japanese beer, wine, sake, and shochu as well as local craft beer offerings from Lagunitas, Anchor Steam, and 21st Amendment, among others. Non-alcoholic beverages include soft drinks, tea, and Ramune, a signature Japanese soda. The dessert menu features a selection of green tea or chocolate Mochi Ice Cream ($3) and Housemade Panna Cotta with caramel cream sauce, graham cracker, and vanilla ice cream ($3.95).
In addition to the JINYA Ramen Bar concepts, Takahashi is behind the popular Robata JINYA in Los Angeles and seven restaurants in Tokyo, Japan. The eldest son of a Japanese restaurateur, Takahashi opened his first restaurant, Sabakuro Ebisu, in 2000 before founding several “Izakaya”-style concepts around Tokyo. He opened the first JINYA Ramen Bar in Studio City, CA in 2010 and there are currently over 20 locations in the United States and Canada.
